JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will have various traffic shifts along the southbound I-470/Route 291 bridge over I-70 beginning early morning on Sunday, Sept. 16, until approximately the end of the day on Monday, Sept. 17. These shifts in traffic are a part of the bridge rehabilitation work happening in the area. All work is weather permitting.
- Beginning early Sunday morning on Sept. 16, motorists should expect various lane shifts along southbound I-470/Route 291 as crews begin to switch traffic from the inside lane to the currently closed outside lane.
- Once the traffic shift is complete, crews will open the loop ramp from westbound I-70 onto southbound I-470.
Use the zipper merge and take turns at the merge points. This is all part of the final phase of an extensive bridge rehabilitation project along I-470 that began in spring 2017. Learn more about the project here. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
