MoDOT is working to design a new structure to replace the current bridge over the North Fork of Lost Creek on DeKalb County Route A. The public is invited to provide input about the design, proposed construction period, proposed detour route and any other project-related concerns they may have via the form at the bottom of this webpage. At this time, approximately one acre of new right of way, a half acre of permanent utility easement and a section of temporary easement will need to be acquired for the project.

The project is currently scheduled to be part of MoDOT's September 2019 letting, when contractors may submit competitive bids for the project.

Contract Awarded

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract at their October 2019 meeting to Boone Construction Co. in the amount of $730,173.50.

Contractor has Authority to Begin Work

A notice to proceed date for the contractor is currently scheduled for November 2019, but the contractor may ask the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for permission to begin work earlier.

 

An exact construction schedule has not been determined. The contractor will meet with MoDOT engineers and staff to determine the schedule of work.

  • Originally built in 1935, but was reconstructed in 1994
  •  20 feet wide: two 10-foot lanes with no shoulders
  • 93 feet long

New North Fork Lost Creek Bridge

  • Will meet current standards
  • 26 feet wide: two 10-foot lanes with three-foot shoulders.
  • Will be built higher to accommodate for flood levels. The length of the bridge will increase to 128 feet due to the increase in height.

A: Closing the bridge saves taxpayer money by allowing the contractor to work more efficiently. This will result in a shorter construction period.
