ABOUT THE PROJECT

MoDOT Kansas City will be replacing the 67th St. bridge over I-435. The project will replace the entire bridge and install retaining walls and guardrails.

The existing bridge is deteriorating and reaching the end of its usable life. It was built in 1965 and rehabilitated in 2007. The bridge has approximately 1,900 vehicles cross the bridge per day.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Crews will close 67th St. over I-435 for the duration of construction.  There will be no signed detour for 67th St. during the closure. Motorists will have to find alternate routes. Traffic along I-435 will experience occasional lane closures. The bridge is scheduled to be closed in the early morning hours of Friday, April 23, until approximately Dec. 2021.

Additionally, there will be a weekend-long closure of a portion of I-435 in the area for bridge demolition with the traffic detoured to I-70 and I-470.  This closure is scheduled to begin on Friday evening, April 23, until Monday morning, April 26, weather permitting. I-435 traffic will be rerouted around the closure using I-70 and I-470. More details to follow.

CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE

Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2021 and with an anticipated completion in Dec. 2021. Crews will close the bridge on April 23, 2021.

TOTAL PROJECT COST

This project is estimated to cost $2.5 million.
