Virtual (Online) Public Meeting

Welcome to the I-435 and NE 53rd Terrace Bridge replacement project virtual public meeting. Due to concerns with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, MoDOT KC is holding online public meetings only.

The 53rd Terrace Bridge virtual meeting will be available from Wednesday, Aug. 5 through the close of business on Wednesday, Aug. 19.  The plan is to replace the bridge on 53rd Terrace over Interstate 435 in Kansas City, MO. The new bridge will include two-twelve foot lanes with four-foot shoulders and six foot sidewalk on the south side of the bridge.

The virtual public meeting is a way for those interested to see the plans for the new bridge and provide feedback.

New Bridge Impact

In order to safely place the new bridge decks in the shortest amount of time, the bridges will be closed to all traffic during construction. An exact date for the closures has not yet been determined. After a construction contract is awarded, the contractor will meet with MoDOT engineers and staff to determine the closure dates.

What is the time line for this project?

The project is anticipated to begin in Spring 2021 and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2021.

What will this project cost?

The construction cost is approximately $2.5 million dollars and is funded with MoDOT funding.
