The surface of Route 46 in Maryville and U.S. Route 136 between Clyde and Stanberry has deteriorated and is in need of resurfacing. The Missouri Department of Transportation has designed a project to resurface Route 46 between Icon Road on the west edge of Maryville and just east of the One Hundred and Two River east of Maryville and U.S. Route 136 from Route J south of Clyde to U.S. Route 169 in Stanberry.

Planning, Design and Right of Way Acquisition Phase

MoDOT's Planning and Design team designed a project which includes coldmilling the old roadway surface, pavement repair, overlaying with 1 3/4" of new pavement, and guardrail work on two sections of roadway:

Route 46 in Nodaway County between Icon Road in Maryville and just east of the One Hundred and Two River, near Katydid Road, east of Maryville.

U.S. Route 136 from Nodaway County Route J, south of Clyde, to U.S. Route 169 in Stanberry (Gentry County).

 

No additional right of way was needed for the project.

Contract Letting, Award & Notice to Proceed

This project went out for contractor bids as part of MoDOT's June 17, 2022 letting. During their July 6, 2022 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $3,459,856.04 contract to Herzog Contracting Corp. of St. Joseph to complete the resurfacing project.

 

The Notice to Proceed date for the project (the earliest date on which the contractor could begin work) is Sept. 5, 2023.

Project Construction

The contractor is currently working with MoDOT to determine the exact schedule of work. All work must be complete on or before Nov. 1, 2023.

At this time, the roadway is expected to remain open during construction.
