Project Summary

Traffic volumes are nearly three times more than they were in 1967 when the corridor was built. In the last 5 years, there have been 17 crashes at intersections along this stretch – including 14 right-angle crashes and 3 fatalities. This project is designed to improve the safety of this section of roadway by making intersection modifications through the addition of J-turns and removal of median crossovers. These safety improvements will reduce crashes, specifically right-angle crashes.

MoDOT will be constructing J-turns on U.S. Highway 50 and closing median crossovers from 3500 feet east of NW 1601st Rd. to 3500 feet west of NW 1601st Rd. The project length is 1.45 miles.
