Project Need and Purpose
The intersection of U.S. Route 169 and Buchanan County Route FF was identified for an intersection improvement project that will improve the turning radius for tractor-trailers. The project also will include resurfacing the intersection and extending a culvert near the intersection.
Project Progress
MoDOT's Planning and Design team is designing a project to resurface the intersection and allow more turning room for tractor trailers. MoDOT will contact property owners to obtain the right-of-way and easements required for this project.
A public open house meeting was held on Wednesday, January 22 at the Missouri Department of Transportation's Northwest District Office.
If you were unable to attend the open house, two other opportunities for public comment are available through Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

The contract for the intersection improvement project was part of the January 2026 letting for contractor bids. The contract was awarded by the Missouri Department of Transportation Commission at its February 2026 meeting to Leavenworth Excavating & Equipment Company, Inc. for $1,243,802.80.
The intersection improvement project is currently under construction, and is scheduled to be completed by August 2026.
The image shows the proposed improvements to the intersection of U.S. Route 169 and Buchanan County Route FF. The safety improvement project will add left-turn lanes from Route 169 to Route FF, add an apron to improve turning for tractor trailers and extend a culvert near the intersection.
