MoDOT’s social media accounts serve as a limited public forum and all content published may be monitored. User-generated posts will be removed or hidden (if possible) when the content:

  • Is unrelated to MoDOT or content published by MoDOT.
  • Contains obscenities or sexual content.
  • Contains confidential personnel information (such as disciplinary actions, health information, social security numbers or other personal identifying information).
  • Is harassing or discriminatory (such as containing derogatory terms that target protected classes).
  • Incites or promotes violence or illegal activities.
  • Contains threats or information that could reasonably compromise individual or public safety.
  • Promotes or endorses political campaigns or candidates.
  • Contains “Click Bait,” which is a link embedded in the post meant to draw traffic to another site.

Posts by citizens to this social media account do not necessarily reflect the opinions of MoDOT and MoDOT does not confirm the accuracy of such posts.

While MoDOT strives to maintain an open dialogue on its social media forums, if a user generates three or more posts containing content that is rejected or hidden for any of the above noted reasons, MoDOT may block the user from posting any content on its social media accounts. Depending on the nature or severity of the posted content, MoDOT reserves the right to block a user on the first or second offense.
