The Cole County Route B bridge over the Moreau River, north of Wardsville, was built in 1978. Due to weather, water, and salt, the expansion joints need repaired. The bridge will have one lane open during the rehabilitation work with temporary traffic signals guiding motorists through the work zone.

A project to repair the expansion joints was designed by engineers with the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Project Letting, Award, and Notice to Proceed

As part of their February 2024 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $3,309,174.67 contract for this work and work on two bridges in Jefferson City to Concrete Strategies, LLC. At that time the contractor was given a March 11, 2024, notice to proceed date - the earliest date they could begin work - and a Dec. 1, 2024, completion date.

At this time, construction is anticipated to be completed by Dec. 1, 2024. Route B over the Moreau River will be reduced to one lane with temporary traffic signals guiding motors through the work zone.

Why is MoDOT replacing the expansion joints?

Built in 1978, the expansion joints are in need of repair due to deterioration from weather, water, and salt.

The bridge will remain open during construction. The contractor will reduce traffic to one lane and temporary traffic signals will guide motorists through the work zone.
