Project Summary
The plan for the Route 61/67 over Joachim Creek Bridge project is to replace the old bridge over Joachim Creek. Since the new bridge will be constructed west of the existing bridge, motorists will use existing Route 61/67 until the new bridge is complete, at which time traffic will be moved onto the new structure and the old bridge will be demolished. Some work may also be performed during nighttime hours.
Project Timeline
What is being done?
MoDOT will be replacing the aging bridge over Joachim Creek. The current bridge was built in 1933 and is long overdue for an upgrade and replacement. The new bridge will be located to the west of the current bridge. The bridge will be wider to accommodate the existing Mississippi River Trail, and the roadway elevation will be raised to reduce the frequency of roadway closures due to flooding.
What is the total cost of the project?
The total cost of the project is $13.3 million.
Is MoDOT purchasing property from landowners?
MoDOT will need to purchase some property and/or obtain temporary easements in order to construct the new bridge through the project limits. Right of Way acquisitions are in progress.
