What is MoDOT doing on this project?
Route 152 over Interstate 35, Kansas Street and Route 291 and Kansas Street are critical junctions for the City of Liberty. These improvements will accommodate development, and most importantly, improve traffic safety. It will also create a safe, efficient, environmentally sound, and economical transportation facility that meets the needs of the area.
How will this project benefit me?
MoDOT will address the needs of improving the I-35/Route 152 Interchange as well as bridge replacement work, street widening and adding turn lanes. The project will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor. A multiple-use path along the south side of Route 152 and Kansas Street which will extend across the I-35 bridge.
What impact will this project have on traffic?
The bridge on Route 152 over I-35 will be closed during the summer. Lane closures on Kansas Street and Route 291 will be expected during construction.

What is the time line for this project?
The project will begin in the spring of 2019.

The project is estimated at $30 million.
This is a jointly funded project between MoDOT, the Cities of Liberty and Kansas City, MO.
- Missouri Dept. of Transportation: Approximately $15 million
- City of Liberty: Approximately $5.5 million
- Federal Surface Transportation Fund: $6 million
- Shoal Creek (KCMO): $1.5 million
