About the STEM Outreach Program

MoDOT in partnership with its contractor Lunda Construction has developed a comprehensive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program focused on the design and construction of the new Lance Corporal Leon Deraps I-70 Missouri River Bridge in Rocheport, Missouri. The outreach effort allows our team to engage the local community and expose students to the workforce opportunities in the construction and engineering industries. Each STEM lesson provides students with a lesson about bridge building and includes an interactive hands-on activity to reinforce the lesson.  Educators are provided additional resources to continue their learnings beyond the session.

The STEM curriculum is being developed in collaboration with the University of Missouri Engineering Department.
