stoplight Project Summary

This project includes replacing the existing traffic signals with updated signals and improving the intersection. The additional intersection improvements include widening to add an island for right-turn movements at the southwest quadrant of the intersection. It also includes modifying the median on U.S. 61 to provide a slightly longer left-turn deceleration lane and more storage for the U.S. 61 southbound left-turn lane.

Tentatively, the project will be let in March 2027, with construction beginning as early as May 2027. As work is underway, motorists should anticipate lane closures; flaggers and work zone signage will guide drivers through the work zone. Construction will be underway for approximately three months, weather permitting.
