Project overview
The Osage County Route T bridge over Loose Creek in Argyle is slated for rehabilitation in 2027. Built in 1966, the supporting structures are in good condition, but the driving surface (deck) has deteriorated and needs to be replaced.
Current construction plans call for closing Route T with a signed detour throughout the bridge deck replacement project.

PROJECT PROGRESS
The Missouri Department of Transportation is in the process of designing a new driving surface for the bridge. The plans for the new deck, which will be the same width as the existing structure, include new approach pavement and new bridge barriers.
This project is not expected to require any new right-of-way acquisition.
The estimated total cost (engineering and construction) for this project is $635,000. This cost may change.

The project is currently scheduled for MoDOT's December 2026 letting, when contractors may submit competitive bids. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission may award the contract as part of their January 2027 meeting and, if the contract is awarded, a notice to proceed date will also be given. That is the earliest date the contractor may begin work.
Construction is expected to take place in 2027.
The current construction plans call for closing Route T at Loose Creek with a signed detour via Osage County Route P, U.S. Route 63, and Maries County Route AA. The detour is 28 miles from one side of the bridge to the other.
At this time, the new bridge deck is expected to be completed by Dec. 1, 2027.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is MoDOT replacing the bridge deck?
Originally built in 1966, the supporting structures are in good condition, but the driving surface has deteriorated and needs to be replaced to extend the useful life of the bridge.
How will this bridge work affect traffic?
Current construction plans call for closing Route T at Loose Creek with a signed detour via Osage County Route P, U.S. Route 63, and Maries County Route AA. The detour is 28 miles from one side of the bridge to the other.
Why is MoDOT closing the bridge?
At 26 feet wide, the bridge is not wide enough to safely accommodate the traveling public, construction workers, and heavy equipment. Additionally, bridge decks built half at a time cost more and have a shorter lifespan.
