Project Summary
The four bridges included in this project have been identified for bridge deck replacements. The Mercer County Route E bridge over West Medicine Creek was built in 1971, the Mercer County Route JJ bridge over Honey Creek in 1957, the Sullivan County Route OO bridge over Locust Creek in 1961 and the Putnam County Route FF bridge over Shoal Creek in 1955.
These bridge decks are in need of replacement due to their age and poor conditions.
Garver, working with MoDOT, is designing a project to replace the bridge decks on all the bridges included in this project.
Project Progress
MoDOT has contracted Garver to design this project.
MoDOT will offer three opportunities to receive community feedback regarding the intersection improvement project.
1. Public open-house meetings will be held on Tuesday, July 29, in Milan and Princeton. No formal presentation will be made.
- Noon - 1:30 p.m. at North Central Missouri Electric Cooperative (1098 Hwy E, Milan, MO 63556).
- 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Princeton High School (1008 E Coleman St., Princeton, MO 64673).

Contractors may submit competitive bids during MoDOT's scheduled lettings. This project was a part of the December 2025 letting. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $2,849,029.37 contract to E&C Bridge, LLC at its monthly meeting in January 2026.
Below is the current construction schedule. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
- Mercer County Route JJ over West Honey Creek: Feb. 16 - early April.
- Putnam County Route FF over Shoal Creek: March 23 - early June.
- Mercer County Route E over West Medicine Creek: March 23 - early June.
- Sullivan County Route OO over Locust Creek: scheduled to begin in May.
All work must be completed on or before Dec. 1, 2026, to meet contract requirements.
