MoDOT completed a project that brought existing sidewalks and pedestrian facilities along state-maintained routes into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in Chula, Ludlow and Wheeling.
Project Progress
MoDOT's Planning and Design team are designing a project which will upgrade existing pedestrian and sidewalk facilities in Chula, Ludlow and Wheeling to be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Kimley-Horn, working with MoDOT, will be contacting local residents in those three communities to obtain temporary construction easements.
This project was part of MoDOT's Sept. 15, 2023, letting, when contractors submitted competitive bids for the project.
At their October 2023 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $584,138.50 contract to BRS Construction, LLC to complete the ADA sidewalk improvement project.
The earliest date on which the contractor could begin work is Nov. 6, 2023.
All schedules are tentative and subject to change.
Ludlow (Routes D and DD):
- March 11 - April 29.
Chula (Route K):
- May 13-18.
Wheeling (Route B):
- May 20 - June 28.
The project was completed on June 28, 2024.
