Project Summary
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is performing a Traffic Safety and Operations Study and Road Safety Audit (RSA) on North Hanley Rd., from Evans Ave. to University Place Dr. The purpose of the study is to analyze and develop recommendations to address pedestrian safety concerns along the study corridor. The study includes review of safety, speed, crash data, along with current and projected traffic patterns.

North Hanley Rd. Corridor Information
- The average daily northbound traffic from I-70 to Evans Ave. is 6,515.
- The average daily southbound traffic from I-70 to University Place Dr. is 10,584.
- Local and commuter traffic includes passenger cars, motorcycles, buses, trucks, heavy trucks, and pedestrians. Metrolink passes under North Hanley Road south of the I-70 eastbound ramps.
- Roadway characteristics include traffic signals at I-70 eastbound and westbound ramps, Evans Ave. and University Place Dr., side street stop signs, signalized pedestrian crossing at the I-70 eastbound ramps, and sidewalks.
- Common crash types are rear end, left turn, out of control, head on, right angle, and pedestrian crashes.
- The reported pedestrian crashes all occurred in the evening between 5-11 pm.
