Project Information
What is this Project?
The purpose of this project is to bring existing pedestrian facilities up to ADA standards in Independence along MO 78 (23rd Street) to satisfy the ADA Transition Plan. Work will take place between Maywood to Lee's Summit Rd.
Timeline?
The project will be let in February 2026. Construction starts in April 2026 until approx. mid-summer 2027.
Traffic Impacts?
There will be periodic lane closures outside of peak hours.
Cost?
The cost of this project is approximately $3 million and is funded through both MoDOT and federal funds.
