Two bridges along Missouri Route 7, between Camden County Route T and the city of Richland, are slated for rehabilitation work in 2026. Both the bridge over Sellars Creek and the bridge over Murphy Creek were built in 1964 and rehabilitated in 1988. While the supporting structures are in good condition, the driving surfaces have deteriorated and need to be replaced.

The traffic control plans for construction have yet to be determined but will likely involve closing Route 7 (at different times for each bridge) with a signed detour.

Project Letting, Award, and Notice to Proceed

The project is currently scheduled to be part of MoDOT's December 2025 letting when contractors may submit competitive bids. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission may award the contract as part of their January 2026 meeting and, if the contract is awarded, a notice to proceed date will also be given. That is the earliest date the contractor may begin work.

Project Construction and Traffic Impacts

Construction is expected to take place in 2026.

The traffic control plans for construction have yet to be determined but will likely involve closing Route 7 with a signed detour. An in-person public meeting will be held on March 27, 2025, to help determine which option best serves the needs of the roughly 2,000 motorists who use the bridges on an average day while being responsible stewards of available funding.
