Will customers be able to access my business during construction?

Yes, all residential and commercial entrances along the corridor will need to be reconstructed as part of the project. The contractor will work with individual businesses to ensure that access remains open to all businesses during business hours.

Will the speed limit along the corridor be reduced?

There are currently no plans to change the speed limits along the corridor.

Will efforts be made to improve traffic signal timing?

Yes. Part of the project involves interconnecting all traffic signals along the corridor so that they can communicate with each other to stay in sync.

Will any improvements be made to the storm drains as part of this project?

Yes, the project includes a complete evaluation and redesign of the drainage system. Storm drain grates will be moved out of the roadway.

Will bicycle lanes and/or shared-use paths be a part of this project?

Not at this time. The purpose of the project is to address the pavement that is in poor condition, traffic signals and upgrading existing sidewalks to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. We do not currently have right-of-way wide enough to accommodate the addition of bicycle lanes and shared-use paths. Acquiring the needed right of way would have substantial impacts to residences and businesses along the corridor. Bicycle lanes and shared-use paths may be considered as part of a future project.

Is there a plan to install landscaping or other aesthetics along the corridor?

No. MoDOT does not include landscaping or aesthetics in projects unless funded and maintained by a local entity. Local entities are encouraged to pursue landscaping and aesthetics though the Growing Together program.

Is there a plan to reduce the number of traffic lanes along the corridor?

No, the corridor currently carries more than 18,000 vehicles per day and is expected to grow to over 20,000 vehicles per day in the next 20 years. This is too much traffic to handle with one lane in each direction. This may be considered as part of a future project.

Is there a plan to address the bumps/dips at several side roads with the project?

Yes, all side road connections will be addressed as part of the project.
