Project Summary
The driving surfaces on the Harrison County Route N bridge over Interstate 35 and the Daviess County Route 6 bridge over I-35 are in poor condition and need extensive patching.
The Harrison County Route N bridge was built in 1968 and carries approximately 982 vehicles per day.
The Daviess County Route 6 was built in 1968 and carries approximately 793 vehicles per day.
Benesch, working with MoDOT, is designing a project to replace the bridge deck on both bridges over I-35.
Project Progress
MoDOT and consultants from Benesch are working to design a bridge rehabilitation project for the bridges on Route 6 in Daviess County and Route N in Harrison County, both of which are over Interstate 35.
There will be two public meetings to discuss this project.
- Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Eagleville Event Center (11049 11th Street, Eagleville, MO) from 4 to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Gallatin High School library (602 S. Olive Street, Gallatin, MO) from 4 to 6 p.m.
These will be open house style meetings and community members are welcome to stop by anytime between 4 - 6 p.m. to speak with project experts and provide feedback. No formal presentation will be made and the information for this project will be the same at each meeting.

This project went out for contractor bids as part of MoDOT's November 2024 letting. During their December 2024 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $2,438,950.78 contract to Capital Paving & Construction, LLC to complete the bridge rehabilitation project.
The earliest date the contractor may begin construction is Jan. 6, 2025.
The contractor will work with MoDOT to determine the exact schedule of work.
At this time, both roadways are expected to close during construction. The exact date of the closures and the planned reopening dates have not been determined yet.
By contract, all work must be complete on or before Dec. 1, 2025.

Q: What will the impact to traffic be?
A: Both bridges will be closed for the duration of the work and east/westbound bridge traffic will be detoured on I-35. Motorists will be directed to use the ramps at the closest interchanges immediately north and south of each bridge.
