Project Summary
The Grand River Overflow Bridge on U.S. Route 136 in Princeton is in need of a bridge deck replacement. The bridge was built in 1971 and carries approximately 1917 vehicles per day.
MoDOT and consultants from HDR, Inc. are designing a project to replace the bridge deck, the approach pavement and install guardrail where warranted.
Project Progress
MoDOT and consultants from HDR, Inc. designed the bridge deck replacement project.
MoDOT will offer three opportunities to receive community feedback regarding the bridge deck replacement project.
- A public open-house meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 29, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Princeton High School (1008 E Coleman St, Princeton, MO 64673). Community members may stop by anytime between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. to learn about the project.

Contractors may submit competitive bids during MoDOT's scheduled lettings. This project was included in the December 2025 letting. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $4,025,797.74 contract to Louis-Company, LLC at their meeting in January 2026.
Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 4. The bridge will be narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals, and a 15-foot width restriction will be in place. The project is scheduled to be complete in early October 2026.
All work must be completed on or before Dec. 1, 2026, to meet contract requirements.
