Project Summary
MoDOT is designing a project to replace the Tarkio River Bridge and update guardrail and pavement marking. The bridge was built in 1934 and carries approximately 304 vehicles per day.
Project Progress
MoDOT is designing a project to replace the bridge. The new bridge will be raised by a foot and widened to 26 feet.
1. A public open house meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 12 from 4-6 p.m. at the Craig R-III School District (402 N Ward St, Craig, MO 64437) to discuss the project. There will be no formal presentation.

Contractors may submit competitive bids during MoDOT's scheduled lettings. This project is scheduled to be included in the January 2027 letting. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission will consider all submitted bids at its scheduled monthly meeting in February 2027. If the lowest submitted bid meets all necessary criteria, the MHTC may award contracts at that time.
After the project is awarded, MoDOT will work the contractor to determine the schedule of work.
