Project Milestones
The project was let in March 2018 allowing contractors to submit competitive bids for the project.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission reviewed all bids and awarded a contract to L.G. Barcus and Sons, Inc. at their April 2018 meeting.
The contract is allowed to begin work in May 2018. They planned to close the bridge to all traffic the morning of May 2018.
The contract completion date is September 7, 2018, though the contractor may finish the job before that date if factors allowed.
Old Bridge
- Built in 1934

- 22 feet wide with two 10-foot lanes and one-foot shoulders
New Bridge
- Meets current standards
- Weight restrictions removed
- 32 feet wide with two 12-foot lanes and four-foot shoulders
Daviess County Route 13 opened in September 2018 after construction of a new bridge over Honey Creek.

Q: Why is MoDOT closing the road during construction?
- closing the bridge saves taxpayer money by allowing the contractor to work more efficiently and will result in a shorter construction period.
Q: What is the current planned detour?
- The proposed signed detour is over U.S. Route 36, Interstate 35 and Route 6.
Q: Why not build a bypass?
- Based on the cost/benefit ratio, building a bypass would not be a good use of taxpayer funds.
Q: Do you have to buy any right of way?
- Only the purchase of two construction easements is anticipated at this time.
