Various Lane and Ramp Closures Scheduled for Portions of Westbound I-70 Beginning March 31

JACKSON COUNTY – MoDOT Kansas City will have various lane and ramp closures along several portions of westbound Interstate 70 beginning on Sunday, March 31, until April 7. These lane closures are for full depth pavement repairs. While most work will be overnight, motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, leave early, and find an alternate route if necessary. All work is weather permitting.

Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. on both Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1, until approximately 5 a.m. the following mornings:
    • There will be a double lane closure along westbound I-70 from approximately Route 291 to Sterling Avenue.
    • Crews will CLOSE the ramp from northbound I-470 to westbound I-70.
    • Crews will CLOSE the ramp from westbound I-70 to southbound I-470.

Tuesday, April 2

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning:
    • There will be a double lane closure along westbound I-70 in the vicinity Route 291.
    • Crews will CLOSE the ramp from southbound I-470 to eastbound I-70.
    • Crews will CLOSE the ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound I-470.

Wednesday, April 3

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning:
    • Crews will CLOSE the ramp from Lee’s Summit Road to westbound I-70.
    • Crews will CLOSE the ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound I-470
    • Crews will CLOSE the ramp from southbound I-470 to eastbound I-70.

Thursday, April 4

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning, crews will CLOSE the ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound I-470.

Friday, April 5          

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning, crews will CLOSE the ramp from westbound I-70 to Lee’s Summit Road.

Sunday, April 7

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning, there will be a double lane closure along westbound I-70 in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 40.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
