JACKSON COUNTY – MoDOT Kansas City will have various lanes and ramps closed near the Interstate 435 and I-70 interchange beginning on Monday, April 1, until approximately Monday, April 8. These closures are for pavement and barrier work part of the I-435 and I-70 interchange improvement project. This work will have impacts to traffic, especially over the weekend. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, leave early, or consider an alternate route. All work is weather permitting.
Reminder: Monday, April 1
- Crews will close the exit ramp from southbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, until 5 a.m. the following morning for shoulder strengthening operations.
- Crews will close the right lane of westbound I-70 at I-435 beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, until 5 a.m. the following morning for shoulder strengthening operations.
Reminder: Tuesday, April 2
- Crews will close the right lane of westbound I-70 at I-435 beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, until 5 a.m. the following morning for shoulder strengthening operations.
Wednesday, April 3
- Crews will reduce northbound I-435 to ONE LANE from Raytown Road to I-70 beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, until 5 a.m. the following morning for pavement marking re-configuration.
- Crews will also reduce southbound I-435 to ONE LANE from just north of U.S. Highway 40 to I-70 beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, until 5 a.m. the following morning for pavement marking re-configuration.
- Crews will CLOSE the exit ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound I-435 beginning at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, until 5 a.m. the following morning for shoulder strengthening.
Thursday, April 4
- Crews will close the right lane of westbound I-70 at I-435 beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 4, until 5 a.m. the following morning for shoulder strengthening operations. This WILL have impacts on traffic.
- The right lane of northbound I-435 from Raytown Road to I-70 will be CLOSED for temporary barrier placement beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, until approximately 3 p.m. that afternoon.
- Crews will CLOSE the exit ramp from eastbound I-70 to Blue Ridge Cutoff beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, until 5 a.m. the following morning. This closure is for pavement marking reconfiguration.
- Crews will CLOSE the left lane of southbound I-435 at approximately U.S. Highway 40 beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, until 5 a.m. the following morning. This closure is for pavement marking reconfiguration.
- Crews will also CLOSE the exit ramp from southbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 AND the exit ramp from northbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 will be closed alternately beginning at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, until 5 a.m. the following morning.. These ramps will NOT be closed at the same time but motorists should expect one of these ramps to be closed during this time frame. These closures are for pavement marking reconfiguration.
Friday, April 5
- Crews will close the left lane of southbound I-435 from just north of U.S. Highway 40 to I-70 for barrier placement beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 5, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.
- Southbound I-435 will be reduced to one lane from I-70 to Raytown Road for pavement marking work beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.
- Crews will also close the exit ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound I-435 for pavement marking work beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 5, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.
Weekend Closures
- The following exit ramps will be CLOSED for barrier work beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 5, until approximately 5 a.m. on Monday, April 8:
- The exit ramp from eastbound I-70 to Blue Ridge Cutoff.
- The exit ramp from southbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 AND the exit ramp from northbound I-435 to eastbound I-70 (alternately).
- Motorists should note that the northbound and southbound I-435 ramps to eastbound I-70 will NOT be closed the same time but one or the other will be closed during this time frame.
