Input sought on safety improvements to Route 5 and Route J in Morgan County

In-person public meeting Nov. 17 in Versailles

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is exploring multiple safety enhancements on Missouri Route 5, northwest of Gravois Mills. Community input is being sought now, via an in-person public meeting and a three-week comment period, early in the design process.

This multifaceted project is looking to replace the Route 5 bridge over Gravois Creek, realign Route 5, and reconfigure the intersection of Route 5 and Morgan County Route J. Public input is essential, and by commenting, asking questions, and providing insight during the in-person public meeting and three-week comment period, the community can help guide the project’s design and development.

The open-house style meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026, at the Versailles City Hall located at 104 N. Fisher in Versailles. Attendees may come and go as they please at any time from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as there will be no formal presentation. The project team will be on hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive input about the project. The meeting exhibits will also be made available online beginning Nov. 10.

In addition to the public meeting, there will be a three-week comment period running Nov. 10 – Dec. 1, 2026. Input may be submitted online through a form on the project webpage, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to Route 5 intersection improvements in Morgan County, c/o MoDOT, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO 65102. All comments must be received or postmarked by Dec. 1, 2026.

More details are available about the project, and the online comment form can be found here: modot.org/projects/missouri-route-5-and-route-j-intersection-improvements-morgan-county.
