MACON – Last year Missouri Route 161/Route J in Montgomery County was closed as construction took place to construct a new bridge over Interstate 70 near Danville. Since the completion of the bridge, the roadways have been open to traffic, but some remaining work needs to take place.
On Monday, April 8th, the South Outer Road and Route J will close so that earthwork may be completed before the contractor completes remaining asphalt operations. All of this work will take up to 2 weeks to complete, and the roads will remain closed during this time. The ramps and bridge will remain open.
Message boards will be in place notifying motorists of the upcoming closures. While the south outer road is closed, motorists will be detoured to Callaway County Route YY (Exit 161) and to Missouri Route 19.
“We appreciate motorists patience as we finish up the remaining work to get this project completed,” said Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E.
