CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close various lanes of eastbound and westbound Route 152/Kansas St. between N. Flintlock Road and Clayview Dr. daily and nightly from now until August 2020 for median removal, base rock installation and pavement replacement work. Work will also include removing existing signals and installation of temporary signals. Motorists should not anticipate road closures on I-35 at this time, but there will be work behind the concrete barriers that may disrupt traffic from time to time.
Substantial delays are expected during morning and evening rush hours while this project is underway. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during peak hours. All work is weather dependent.
The is all part of a project to replace the Route 152 Bridge over I-35, make improvements to Kansas Street and Route 291, including adding wider lanes and additional turn lanes. The project will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor, and a multiple-use path along the south side of Route 152 and Kansas Street.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
