Work will cause lane closures on I-35 as part of an interchange improvement project

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the inside lanes (nearest the barrier wall) of northbound and southbound I-35 at Route 152 from 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 through 5:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11 in order for crews to pour drilled shafts with the median.

Substantial delays are expected during morning and evening rush hours while this project is underway. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during peak hours. All work is weather dependent.

The is all part of a project to replace the Route 152 Bridge over I-35, make improvements to Kansas Street and Route 291, including adding wider lanes and additional turn lanes. The project will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor, and a multiple-use path along the south side of Route 152 and Kansas Street.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
