Ramp Closures Scheduled for I-470/Route 291 and I-70 April 26

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation has scheduled several ramp closures on both Interstate470/Route 291 and I-70 for pavement repairs. This work will begin at 7 p.m. TONIGHT, Friday, April 26. Motorists will need to find alternate routes during this time. Closed ramps will be re-opened as paving allows. All work is weather permitting.

Friday, April 26

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. until approximately 8 a.m. the following morning, crews will CLOSE two lanes of westbound I-70 from Little Blue Parkway to Noland Road.
  • Also during this time, crews will also CLOSE the following ramps. Motorists should note that only one interchange will be worked on at a time:
    • The northbound Route 291/I-470 ramp to westbound I-70.
    • The westbound I-70 ramp to southbound Route 291/I-470.
    • The southbound Route 29/I-470 ramp to westbound I-70
    • The westbound I-70 ramp to Lee’s Summit Road.
    • Lee’s Summit Road ramp to westbound I-70.
    • The westbound I-70 ramp to Noland Road.
    • The Noland Road ramp to westbound I-70.

Saturday, April 27

  • Beginning at 7 p.m. until approximately 8 a.m. the following morning, crews will CLOSE two lanes of westbound I-70 from Noland Road to the Little Blue Cutoff.
  • Also during this time, crews will CLOSE the following ramps:
    • The westbound I-70 ramp to Noland Road
    • The ramp from Noland Road to westbound I-70.
    • The ramp from westbound I-70 to Highway 40
    • The Highway 40 ramp to westbound I-70.

 The closures are part of a paving project along I-70 between Sterling Avenue and Route 291 that began in April and is expected to be complete in July. This project will have significant impacts on overnight traffic.  For potential impacts to traffic, please review KC Scout cameras at http://www.kcscout.net or consult our real-time traffic partner, WAZE.

Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
