JEFFERSON COUNTY – As part of the US Route 61-67 from Route 231 to Route Z Corridor Study, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be conducting a Safety Demonstration on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, to demonstrate proposed improvements at key intersections and road segments along the study corridor.
The Safety Demonstration will be in place for approximately 12 hours, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through key intersections: Windsor Harbor Drive at US Route 61-67 and Imperial Main Street at Route 61-67.
The demonstration will use traffic control devices (cones, signs, barricades) to temporarily implement reduced vehicle lanes and dedicated turn lanes. These are proven safety tools to encourage slower speeds and increase driver awareness from Windsor Drive to Craig Drive. This demonstration will allow MoDOT to evaluate how the corridor functions today with reduced speeds and ease the ability to make turns.
Project staff will be on site periodically to observe traffic using the temporary changes to the roadway and will engage passersby to gather feedback about the demonstration design.
Survey feedback and traffic data gathered during the demonstration is essential to the development of recommended corridor improvements.
Motorists are encouraged to complete the survey and share feedback on their experience traveling through the temporary roadway demonstration.
To further public engagement, the study team will have a booth at the Windsor vs. Fredericktown High School football game on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026 from 7- 9 p.m. The game will be located at Windsor High School at 949 Windsor Harbor Rd, Imperial, MO 63052. The project team is looking forward to hearing from the community about their experience using the temporary traffic model.
