CORRECTION: Interstate 29 Nodaway River Bridge repair to begin soon

Wide equipment should use an alternate route

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – In 2018, a bridge replacement project took place on the southbound Interstate 29 bridge over the Nodaway River near the border of Holt and Andrew counties. Beginning May 6, contractors from Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will replace one of the bridge joints on the new bridge. Work will be done one lane at a time, narrowing traffic to one southbound lane at the bridge, approximately between mile markers 66 and 67. Northbound lanes should not be affected by the work.

During the bridge joint replacement, there will be a 12-foot width restriction. Vehicles and loads wider than 12 feet, such as large agricultural equipment, will need to use an alternate route for the duration of the project.

Crews hope to have all work complete before Memorial Day. All schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.

MoDOT encourages all travelers to slow down, especially in work zones, as there will be large equipment and workers near the driving lanes. As always, please buckle up, eliminate distractions, pay attention and drive safely so everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
