ST. LOUIS – Drivers in St. Louis heading to Illinois need to be aware of some work on eastbound I-64 across the Poplar Street Bridge that will impact traffic flow this weekend.
All work is weather permitting.
Crews will close the ramp from northbound I-55 and eastbound I-44 to eastbound I-64 across the Poplar Street Bridge, starting at 7 p.m. May 3. During the closure, they are making repairs on the ramp needed due to several crashes over the winter. In addition, the ramp from Marion to northbound I-55/eastbound I-44 will close at 7 p.m. May 3. Both ramps are expected to reopen by 5 a.m., Monday, May 6.
In addition, crews will close one lane on eastbound I-64 after the ramp to 6th Street, starting about 1 a.m. Saturday, May 4. Both the ramp to 6th Street and the ramp from 6th Street to eastbound I-64 are scheduled to remain open, although 6th street traffic heading eastbound will need to merge into interstate traffic after the exit. Two eastbound lanes will be closed to allow crews to seal the driving surface and repaint lanes at the ramp. Lanes are scheduled to reopen by early afternoon Sunday, May 5.
Finally, crews will be removing and repainting stripes on westbound I-64 across the bridge, starting at 5 a.m. Saturday, May 4. Drivers heading into St. Louis should be aware that lanes may be closed, or shifted, as they travel west across the Mississippi River. The restriping should be done by late afternoon.
