New Rural Roundabout Construction Begins in Audrain County

Public invited to public meeting

HANNIBAL - Drivers can expect to see a lot of activity in Audrain County on U.S. Route 54 at Scott’s Corner as construction of a rural roundabout is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 6.

S & A Equipment & Builders was awarded the contract by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission earlier this month for $2,416,716.  The completion date for the project is September 13, with the roundabout to be open to traffic by August 12.

A public informational meeting will be held at Community R-VI on May 15 from 5 pm to 7 pm with Missouri Department of Transportation representatives available to answer questions about construction, as well as provide general information about how a rural roundabout works.

The contractor will begin installing traffic control devices, placing erosion control measures and close the commuter lot on May 6 to prepare for clearing the area where the roundabout will be constructed. “Very little disruption to traffic is expected during construction, however; the closure of the commuter lot will remain permanent” stated Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Haeffner, P.E.

MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.  For more information, call MoDOT at 888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636) or visit www.modot.org to receive the latest statewide news and text alerts, signup for e-updates
