Public Invited to Meeting about Downing Sidewalk Project

MACON – Individuals are invited to a public meeting that will discuss a future sidewalk project that will be taking place in Downing. The proposed project is located along U.S. Route 136, between Cemetery Street and Angus Drive.

Individuals who have property adjoining the project are encouraged to attend, as staff will be on hand to discuss the effects this project will have on property. This project is being completed as a part of MoDOT’s initiative to bring all MoDOT facilities into compliance with the current standards of the American’s with Disabilities Act, and is planned to start the summer of 2020.

“We are looking forward to completing this project, as we work towards our goal of making our transportation system accessible to everyone,” said District Utilities Engineer and ADA Specialist Shane Viers.

The public meeting will be held Thursday, May 16th at the Downing Community Fire Station, located at 109 W. Prime, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. MoDOT representatives will be on hand to explain the projects and answer any questions.
