Bridge Replacement on Missouri Route 151 at Black Creek Near Leonard Awarded by Commission

MACON – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to Bleigh Construction, of Palmyra, Missouri, for a bridge replacement on Missouri Route 151 in Shelby County.  The project will be at Black Creek, located 0.10 mile north of Shelby County Route M, near Leonard. The total cost of the project is approximately $520,535.

“We are glad we are able to move forward with the replacement of this bridge,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. “Significant deterioration has occurred over the years, and for the safety of motorists, the time to replace it has arrived,” he added.

The contractor has 90 calendar days to complete the project. The work could begin as early as this summer and should be completed by fall. The new bridge will be 24 feet wide, which is 4 feet wider than the existing one.  The road will be closed at the bridge once construction begins.

“We will be able to provide a more specific schedule on this bridge project after the contractor provides the plan for completing the work,” said Untiedt.
