Update Sullivan County West Locust Creek Bridge to reclose May 13

MILAN, Mo. – Due to recent weather and flooding, the West Locust Creek Bridge, west of Route 5 near Humphreys, was reopened by crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation. After establishing a new local detour route to avoid potential flooding, contractors from Boone Construction Company plan to reclose the bridge on Monday, May 13, to begin the bridge replacement project.

The new local detour will direct motorists south from Humpreys on Route 139, east on Route MM to Browning and north on Route 5. Truck traffic will continue to be detoured from the east near Kirksville on U.S. Route 63 south to U.S. Route 36 west or from the west near Trenton on U.S. Route 65 south to U.S. Route 36 east.

Due to the delayed start of the West Locust Creek Bridge, construction to replace the West Yellow Creek Bridge, between Route P and Route 129 east of Milan, has been postponed. Contractors are working to establish a new schedule.
