Emergency pothole repair extended for I-670 ramp closure

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation has extended the closure for the ramp from I-670 EB to I-35 NB, near the east side of the downtown Kansas City loop. Crews closed the ramp late Thursday, May 9 after discovering a pothole approximately 45 square feet and at a depth of four inches, which was not safe for motorists. Crews began immediate repairs.

However, it has been determined that the concrete used for repairs is not curing properly. Crews are continuing to make the necessary repairs at the location. The reopening of the ramp has not been determined. All work is weather dependent.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
