Sidewalk & ADA Improvements in Vernon, Henry & St. Clair Counties Scheduled to Begin Week of Sept. 8

Vernon, Henry & St. Clair Counties – Drivers should watch for contractor crews making sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements at various locations in Vernon, Henry and St. Clair counties beginning the week of September 8, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will make improvements that include making curb ramps, landings, crosswalks and pavement markings conform to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Beginning the week of September 8, the contractor will begin work in Nevada.

Here is where crews will be working:

  • Vernon County
    • Nevada
      • Various locations along Austin Boulevard (U.S. Route 54 & Loop 49) between Tower Street and Woodland Street
      • Various locations along Osage Boulevard (Loop 49) between Minnesota Avenue and Cherry Street
    • Moundville
      • Various locations along Elm Street (Vernon County Route F) from Hoosier Street west to a point west of Otto Street
    • Bronaugh
      • Cherry Street (Missouri Route 43) between 6th Street and 4th Street
    • Henry County
      • Deepwater
        • C Street (Business 52) between 7th Street and 6th Street
        • C Street (Business 52) between 5th Street and 4th Street
      • Brownington
        • Main Street (Henry County Route BB) at 4th Street
      • Clair County
        • Appleton City
          • Various locations along 4th Street (Missouri Route 52) between Advent Street and Hickory Avenue
          • Maple Street (St. Clair County Route KK) at 5th Street
        • Lowry City
          • Griswold Street (St. Clair County Route D) between 3rd Street and 5th Street

Traffic Impacts:

  • Drivers are urged to use caution and be aware of crews and equipment working close to traffic
  • Work will be done during daytime hours (7 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Friday)
  • Drivers may encounter occasional lane closures and flaggers in areas where crews are working
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zones
  • No signed detours
  • Drivers should find alternate routes around work zones
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

Project Information:

  • Prime contractor: Ti-Zack Concrete LLC, Le Center, MN
  • Total cost: $1.5 million
  • Completion date: December 1, 2026
