Schedule Changed: Lane and Ramp Closures Along Southbound I-470 Near I-70, Woods Chapel Rd., and Strother Rd. for Paving on May 23
JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation has rescheduled some paving work along both northbound and southbound Interstate 470 near I-70, Lakewood/Bowlin Rd., Woods Chapel Rd., and Strother Rd. due to inclement weather. Work will now begin on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. and will last until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning. This will require:
- The closure of the southbound I-470 off and on ramps to Woods Chapel Rd. and to Strother Rd.
- The closure of the right lane along southbound I-470 between Lakewood/Bowlin Rd. and Strother Rd. including the southbound I-470 ramps to Woods Chapel Rd. and Strother Rd.
- The closure of the on ramp from Lakewood/Bowlin Rd. to northbound I-470.
- The closure of the right lane of northbound I-470 from the westbound I-70 directional ramp to 39th
- The closure of the westbound I-70 ramp to northbound I-470/Route 291.
- The closures of the ramp from northbound I-470/Route 291 to 39th The auxiliary lane between these ramps will also be closed.
All work is weather permitting. Not all closures will happen at once. Work is anticipated to begin near Woods Chapel and Strother Roads and the continue on.

Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
