CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the Route 152 Bridge over I-35 in Liberty, MO beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, May 31 and will remain closed until Thursday, Sept. 19 for bridge replacement work. Motorists should expect delays and lane closures starting as early as 7:00 p.m. due to preparations that need to be taken prior to the demolition.
During the bridge demolition, all I-35 (northbound and southbound) traffic underneath the Route 152 Bridge will be detoured up and over the ramps beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, May 31 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 3 when the demolition work should be completed.
During demolition of the existing bridge and reconstruction of new bridges, motorists that do not need to cross the bridge will be able to access ramps, but will need to find alternate routes if their destination is on the opposing side of the bridge.
The is all part of a project to replace the Route 152 Bridge over I-35, make improvements to Kansas Street and Route 291; including adding wider lanes and additional turn lanes. It will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor, and a multiple-use path along the south side of Route 152 and Kansas Street. The project is expected to be completed in 2020. This project is in partnership with the Cities of Liberty and Kansas City. All work is weather dependent.
