SIKESTON— Route 34 in Cape Girardeau and Bollinger Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform bridge maintenance and pavement improvements.
Motorists should anticipate work zones between Route 72 in Cape Girardeau County and County Road 302 in Marble Hill, Missouri, as work progresses. The entire length of the project limits will not be impacted simultaneously.
Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Bridge maintenance will take place at the following locations:
- Two bridges located east of Burfordville, MO between Route UU and County Road 360
- Aug. 10 through Aug. 31, weather permitting
- Byrd Creek Bridge between County Road 347 and County Road 343 in Cape Girardeau County
- Aug. 31 through Sept. 30, weather permitting
Following the bridge maintenance, contractor crews will perform pavement repairs and an asphalt overlay on Route 34 from Route B in Bollinger County to Route 72 in Cape Girardeau County.
The project is anticipated to be complete by Friday, Oct. 30, weather permitting.
The work zones will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
