GREENE COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will host a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the start of construction for the Southwest I-44 Improvements Project, spanning from Newton County to Laclede County, as part of the multi-phase Forward 44 Program along the corridor.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 24, at I-44 and Mulroy Road/MO 744 (Exit 84) in Springfield. The project is a Design-Build initiative that includes enhancements at multiple locations along I-44.
This $471 million project includes $328 million in General Revenue funding provided by the General Assembly and approved by the governor.

Attendees can access the event via East Parallel Lane. A MoDOT vehicle with flashing lights will be staged at the entrance, and MoDOT staff will be on site to direct attendees.
