CLOSED AGAIN U.S. Route 36 West of Bevier All Lanes

Significant Detour to Avoid Flooded Roads

HANNIBAL – All four lanes of U.S. Route 36 west of Bevier are now flooded again, and the Missouri Department of Transportation has closed the road.  Traffic is being detoured over state roads, because there are so many roads flooded in the area.  The detour is to use U.S. Route 63 north to U.S. 136, then if you’re heading west to Route 5.

Drivers cannot take Missouri Route 6 due to a bridge construction project over West Locust Creek

The four-lane highway has been clear on two of the lanes, allowing for head to head traffic most of the day after being closed early this morning.  The Chariton River continues to slowly rise and the road is expected to remain closed at least overnight.  As soon as it is safe, MoDOT will reopen one side of the highway to allow head-to-head traffic again.

Significant flooding is expected to continue over the next several days.  Please refer to MoDOT’s online traveler map at www.modot.org for the latest updates.
