UPDATE: Castile Creek Bridge on US Route 169 south of Gower set to be replaced

US Route 169 will close at the bridge during construction

GOWER, Mo. – Weather has pushed the start date for the closure of the Castile Creek Bridge, located just south of Gower on U.S. Route 169, back. Originally scheduled to close Monday, June 3, the road will now close Monday, June 10, 2019.

A replacement project to bring the 64-year-old Clinton County bridge up to current standards will be led by contractors from L.G. Barcus and Sons, Inc., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation. Crews plan to close the bridge to all traffic on Monday, June 10, 2019. The bridge will remain closed through September.

During the closure, motorists will be directed over a signed detour on Routes 116 and E. Commercial truck traffic will be directed to use Interstate 29 and Route 92.

Visit the project’s webpage to learn more about the plans for the new bridge and to sign up for project-specific updates via email at https://www.modot.org/us-route-169-castile-creek-bridge.

As with all construction, work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
