Pavement repairs will narrow Interstate 29

Interstate 29 remains closed to through traffic

MOUND CITY, Mo. – Interstate 29 is closed in both directions to through traffic north of U.S. Route 71 (Exit 56), but is open for local traffic to reach their homes and businesses. Some of the local traffic may be affected next week by planned pavement repairs at the north Oregon exit (Exit 75). Crews from Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will replace portions of concrete on the ends of the bridge going over U.S. Route 59 at that location.

The work requires intermittent lane closures. One lane, each direction, will remain open (to local traffic) for the duration of the project, with a 16-foot width restriction in place. Lane closures may remain active around the clock to allow the concrete to cure. The concrete replacement is to prepare the roadway for a resurfacing project, which is currently scheduled to begin after the Independence Day holiday.

Guardrail upgrades will also affect local southbound traffic south of Exit 75. Contractors could narrow I-29 to one southbound lane between Exit 75 and Exit 67 to bring guardrail in this are up to current standards.

Please slow down, remain attentive, and use caution while driving through these areas. All scheduled roadwork is weather permitting and subject to change.

MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
