Route 50 Shoulder Repairs Needed Due to Flooding in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY -- Repairs along U.S. Route 50 in downtown Jefferson City will cause lane closures for westbound traffic Wednesday morning.

Recent flooding has undermined a section of the westbound shoulder of Route 50 near the Capitol Plaza Hotel. On Wednesday, June 12, at 9 a.m. Missouri Department of Transportation crews will close the westbound far-right lane between Broadway and Missouri Boulevard following the morning rush hour to make repairs to the shoulder. The closure is expected to last approximately two hours.

The shoulder damage does not impact the driving surface of the road and is not a danger to motorists.

MoDOT crews began preparing to repair the shoulder Tuesday afternoon and utility crews were on-hand to ensure that utility lines were not compromised by floodwaters and that it was safe for crews to work on filling the hole.

MoDOT appreciates the patience of travelers while the work takes place.
