Lane and Ramp Closures Scheduled for I-70 from Blue Ridge Blvd. to Route 291/I-470 June 13-15

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation is conducting paving work along Interstate 70 between Blue Ridge Blvd. and Route 291/I-470 that involves various lane and ramp closures.  The work is scheduled to begin TONGHT, Thursday, June 13, until Saturday, June 15 from 8 p.m. each evening to 5 a.m. the following mornings. All work is weather permitting.

  • Thursday, June 13
    • Beginning at 8 p.m., until 5 a.m. the following morning, the following ramps will be closed to for paving work:
      • The ramp from eastbound I-70 to Sterling Ave.
      • The ramp from eastbound I-70 to U.S. Highway 40.
      • The ramp from U.S. Highway 40 to eastbound I-70.
      • The ramp from Blue Ridge Blvd. to eastbound I-70.
      • The ramp from eastbound I-70 to Noland Rd.
      • The Noland Rd. ramp to eastbound I-70.
      • The ramp from eastbound I-70 to Lee’s Summit Rd.
      • The Lee’s Summit Rd. ramp to eastbound I-70.
      • The eastbound I-70 ramp to southbound Route 291/I-470.
      • ALL loop ramps to and from eastbound I-70 at the Route 291/I-470 interchange. These include:
        • The eastbound I-70 loop ramp to northbound Route 291/I-470.
        • The southbound Route 291/I-470 loop ramp to eastbound I-70.
      • Additionally, there will be a moving operating for striping work along eastbound and westbound I-70 in this area. This work may affect some ramps temporarily.
      • Ramps will be opened to traffic as pavement allows.
    • Friday, June 14
      • Beginning at 8 p.m., until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning, there will be several right lane closures and ramp closures along westbound I-70 for paving work on the shoulders. The following ramps will be impacted:
        • ALL loop ramps to and from I-70 west at the I-470/Route 291 interchange. These include:
          • The westbound I-70 loop ramp to southbound Route 291/I-470.
          • The northbound Route 291/I-470 loop ramp to westbound I-70.
        • The ramp from southbound Route 291 to westbound I-70.
        • The ramp from westbound I-70 to Lee’s Summit Rd.
        • The Lee’s Summit Rd. ramp to westbound I-70.
        • The westbound I-70 ramp to Noland Rd.
        • The Noland Rd ramp to westbound I-70.
        • The westbound I-70 ramp to U.S. Highway 40.
        • The Blue Ridge Blvd. ramp to U.S. Highway 40.
        • The ramp from U.S. Highway 40 to I-70 west.
      • Additionally, there will be a moving operating for striping work along eastbound and westbound I-70 in this area. This work may affect some ramps temporarily.
      • Ramps will be opened to traffic as pavement allows.

In the event that the shoulders of the ramp are not completed in this time frame, work will resume on Saturday, June 15, at 8 p.m. The closures are part of a paving project along I-70 between Blue Ridge Cutoff and Route 291 that began in April and is expected to be complete in July. Motorists MUST find alternate routes during this time.

Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
