JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – An ongoing project to replace two bridges located on Camden County Route J will be one step closer to completion Monday.
Weather permitting the project contractor will begin replacing the Route J one-lane bridge over Rainwater Creek on Monday, June 17. The replacement of the Route J bridge over Little Niangua River has already begun and is close to completion.
The final phase of the project will require the closure of Route J 7.5 miles north of U.S. Route 54 at the Little Niangua River. The closure will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 17, and will extend for approximately 60 days until the Rainwater Creek bridge replacement is complete. Signs are in place alerting motorists of the road closure.
Both of the Route J bridges were built in 1932 and had a width of 20 feet. The new bridges will be 26 feet wide, allowing for two lanes of traffic.
MoDOT appreciates the patience of travelers while work takes place.
